First time making a dress and this pattern really helped!

So I am very confused by this pattern. I had no trouble printing or getting things put together even following the pattern was extremely easy, HOWEVER, the dress top looks nothing like the photos. I thought maybe I had done something wrong at first but no I saw another person who posted photos of this pattern once done and the top is just wonky. I had to put bows at the top to fix how weird the top ended up looking and that mostly fixed the issue but I was expecting better after seeing all of the reviews.

Beautiful pattern with really clear instructions. I made it for a friend for a new years eve party, unfortunately she wasn't nearby while I was making it and the top was a little big but other than that it fit beautifully! I also decided to line the inside of the bodice and it was quite a difficult dress to line but I managed! Will definitely be making myself one in the future

This pattern is gorgeous!! It does run a bit small, but I used it for my graduation dress and it was beautiful. I ended up changing the straps to a halter neck style because the bust area hung a little strangely and the skirt to a half-circle due to personal preference, but otherwise it was great.

If you have never sewn a zipper before, the instructions are very difficult.
Can you sew the dress without this?
And the fabric consumption would also be important as information!

I am new to sewing clothes. Have been sewing for a while here and there for different small projects, but this year is the year I start sewing clothes! I have opened the file and am already impressed as you can choose to print the pattern for a specific size as opposed to other patterns I have seen. I think this makes sewing clothes so much more accessible and way less confusing! The instructions seem clear and easy to follow. I cannot wait to start my projects!
